The renowned Macanese writer Henrique de Senna Fernandes is being honoured by an exhibition of his literary works and mementos at the University of Macau (UM), according to a statement released by the university.
Senna Fernandes penned a number of novels and short stories, including A Trança Feiticeira (The Bewitching Braid) and Amor e Dedinhos de Pé (Love and Tiny Toes), both of which were adapted into films.
The exhibition, which opened last week, commemorates the late writer and lawyer’s 100th birthday. He was born on 15 October 2023 and died in 2010.

His works – which earned him a Medal of Merit – are known for depicting 20th century Macao’s history, customs, and landscapes.
“He made outstanding contributions to the development of literature and culture in Macao, and is regarded by many literary critics as a guardian of Macao’s heritage,” UM’s statement read.
The exhibition is being held at UM’s Chinese-Portuguese Bilingual Teaching and Training Centre until 18 December.
